When the pressures at work and home are building up and one feels like they just need to get away for awhile, many people choose a relaxing weekend of golf. For some, a few days swinging the clubs outside can be just as energizing as any beach side getaway or ocean cruise. One place to consider when looking for those few days of golf related comfort is the Kokopelli Golf Course located in Gilbert, Arizona.
The Kokopelli Golf Course was designed by Bill Phillips and opened in 1993. Since then the Kokopelli Golf Course has garnered a reputation as being a course that is versatile enough to challenge veterans of the game, while still being a course newcomers and novices can enjoy as well. With seven water hazards that encircle the 18 holes, Kokopelli offers one of the most entertaining and scenic courses in Arizona. The Kokopelli Golf Course is a record 6,716 combined yards from the tees to the holes, making it the longest par 72 course available. The rates for 18 holes of golf at the Kokopelli Golf Course range from $29 on weekdays to $39 over the weekend. Those looking to traverse the links with a little more speed or style will find with a golf cart included, the rates only rise to a reasonable $79. If the western Arizona location for the Kokopelli Golf Course is a little far to travel, one might want to consider the Kokopelli Golf Club, located in Marion, Illinois. Golf Week Magazine awards the state of Illinois as its third best golf state, and one can see that the Kokopelli Golf Club lives up to the lofty expectations. Like the Kokopelli Golf Course in Arizona, this course offers similar course ratings but has a greater variety to the way the links can be played, cutting the course to as short as 5400, but also allowing for a more robust 7200 yards. Besides a fine set of links, the Kokopelli Golf Club offers a fine dining restaurant at the golf clubhouse and awards costumers with a comfortable setting that is second to none.
One major difference between the two is like its name suggests, the Kokopelli Golf Club is a club, and one will either need to purchase a pass or a membership to play the course. The Kokopelli Golf Course in Marion is open to public play, and one does not need a membership. Both have their upsides, and one will find if they like an uncrowded golf clubhouse and do not mind the higher rates, the Kokopelli Golf Club in Arizona and other private courses are where they should look for a round of 18. If however, one just enjoys the sport under any circumstances and the potential for crowding does not bother them, a trip to the Kokopelli Golf Course and other public courses are a good idea to save a few dollars.
A few days spent simmering in the Arizona sun and driving the rolling greens of the Kokopelli Golf Course is a great way to get away for the hassles of every day life. And if the Kokopelli Golf Course is not one's cup of tea, head north to the Kokopelli Golf Club and enjoy a more exclusive setting. Whether traversing the public greens of the Arizona Kokopelli Golf Course or the private Kokopelli Golf Club in Illinois, either Kokopelli golf setting is a cut above the rest.
