The golf industry is booming in Arizona, and many of the best course designers in the world are developing the land there. One of the best new courses to find Arizona land in the past few years is Wekopa Golf Course. The Wekopa Golf Course is an elite country club featuring two full 18-hole golf courses and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. If a golfer is interested in playing the Wekopa Golf Club, they should get as much information as possible to better understand the course and the area around it.
Wekopa Golf Course opened in 2001 on land developed by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. The course is named after the Yavapai word for Four Peaks Mountain. The land, full of gentle hills and one of a kind desert ground and rock formations, is a unique location for a world class golf course. The land is extremely well maintained and irrigated by the Wekopa Golf Course grounds crew. For visitors to the area, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation also has a casino and a beautiful hunting and fishing area along the Verde river.
The first part of the Wekopa Golf Course is the 18-hole Cholla Course. The Cholla Course was developed by designer Scott Miller and was ranked the third best public course in Arizona. This section of the Wekopa Golf Club is 7,225 yards from the professional tees and intertwined with cart paths for maximum comfort and access. Cholla is designed to be played by golfers of all skill levels, but with the way Wekopa Golf Course is situated in the Arizona country side, new and imperfect golfers might have a little trouble finding some of the fairways.
The other half of Wekopa Golf Course is the Saguaro Course. The Saguaro Course was developed by Bill Coore and Hall of Fame golfer Ben Crenshaw and unveiled in December of 2006. The course covers 6,912 yards from the professional tees. It plays a little more favorably for uneven golfers than Cholla because the fairways are a little more forgiving. Saguaro on Wekopa Golf Course was voted one of the Top 10 New Courses for 2007 by U.S. Golf Magazine in January.
The playing these great Wekopa Golf Course holes is not cheap. Green fees can go up to $195 on Saguaro and $293 on Cholla. And that is assuming a golfer and his or her group can get a tee time. Wekopa Golf Course is an extremely popular destination for golfers from around the world, and any prospective players should call ahead and make sure they can get reservations both at the course and in a hotel somewhere in the area.
Wekopa Golf Course is one of the most pristine and challenging courses in the United States. From its desert locale to its professional grade lengths, this is a course that will let any golfer experience an amazing set of 36 holes. If the golfers can get in, Wekopa Golf Course is an amazing and exciting experience in the picturesque Arizona desert.
